Black Sheep Coal Fired Pizza 6/29/2013

One of two abbreviated posts for today on a couple of pizza restaurants in Minneapolis.  Black Sheep Coal Fired Pizza is yet another destination up in North Loop.  The Minneapolis pizza scene has big local chain names such as Punch Pizza and Pizza Luce, and small innovative independent places such as Pizzeria Lola and the relatively new Pig Ate My Pizza from the folks at Travail, in addition to local main stays, Cossettas and Fat Lorenzos.  Even so, Black Sheep has crafted its own niche.

My dining companion and I shared the meatballs as an appetizer and the meatball, ricotta & garlic pizza for lunch, which was the perfect amount of food for us.  I’m not huge on ricotta, but having it on this pizza actually inspired me to use ricotta on my own pizzas at home.  Prices are relatively reasonable, too, so this isn’t a place to break the bank, leaving you free to enjoy delicious pizza more often.

Cheers!
